Spectrum is continuing to invest in diversity, equity and inclusion by keeping them at the forefront of our internal culture, client work and community engagement. We aren’t as diverse as we’d like to be and are actively working to change that. Since the murder of George Floyd, we have accelerated our efforts to ensure that we are taking the steps necessary to honor that goal. The first step was to activate our internal DEI team, a group of passionate and engaged individuals charged with leading these efforts.
Our current DEI initiatives include:
- Recruiting and Outreach
- Employee Onboarding and Retention
- Grant Projects and Volunteering
We also partnered with Portland Means Progress,
which entailed the following commitments:
Work experience: A commitment to create work experience opportunities for underrepresented youth and young professionals of color through vetted service providers by Portland Means Progress.
Culture change: A commitment to create culture change within our organization by providing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion training for our staff and leadership. Previous guest educators include Paloma Medina and Alanna Hein with Hein Consulting Group.
We are proud of the steps we have taken to date, but recognize that there is more Spectrum can be doing as a whole and especially as leaders in our industries. All applicants and community members are welcome and encouraged to ask questions about our DEI initiatives and how we are supporting our employees.
